A women's fit is cut from a different pattern, not just made smaller. In pants that usually means more room through the hip and a waistband that doesn't gape at the back. In shirts it means shaping at the bust and waist, so the front sits flat and the buttons don't pull. Listings describe this in different ways, so here's what to look for, and where it turns up in the range we stock.
Work pants: what changes in a women's cut
| Pant | Fit, as listed | Sizes |
|---|---|---|
| FXD WP-3W | "Trade and performance tested women's fit" | 6 to 18 |
| FXD WP-7W | Flex hip panels in the waistband | 6 to 20 |
| RMX RMX018 | "Flexible Fit Styling" | 6 to 24 |
| Pilbara RMPC015 jean | "Mid Rise, Straight Leg, Classic Fit" | 6 to 24 |
The FXD WP-7W listing says its hip panels allow "the fit to work with multiple body shapes", and it adds an inleg gusset and knee darts. FXD also makes cuffed and taped women's versions, such as the WP-8W and WP-7WT.
Fabric matters as much as the cut. The WP-3W is 295gsm stretch cotton canvas, the RMX018 is 300gsm with 2% elastane, and the WP-7W is a lighter 260gsm stretch ripstop. A little stretch gives a fitted cut room to move when you crouch or climb.
Shirts: darts, plackets and shape
- Aussie Pacific Epsom 2907L: "A classic fit with bust and waist darting front and back", in sizes 4 to 26. Darts take out the boxy look of a straight-cut shirt.
- Aussie Pacific Brighton 2909L: a "Magic button" on the inside placket "to prevent the shirts from gaping at the bust", also 4 to 26.
- Pilbara RM300CF and RM600BT: 150gsm cotton twill work shirts in sizes 6 to 24, in a closed front or open front. The RM600BT is the open front version, listed in 14 colours, with "Two button down chest pockets" and a "Two button adjustable cuff". Both listings quote UPF 50+ under AS 4399:2020 with some colours excluded, and the RM300CF listing excludes Blush and Mint, so if sun protection matters, ask us to confirm the rating for your exact style and colour before you order. The Pilbara women's range also includes short sleeve and sleeveless styles. Our Pilbara and Ritemate shirt comparison explains when a plain cotton shirt or a hi vis one is the better pick.
- Pilbara women's long sleeve shirts: three of them, the RMPC006, RMPC059 and RMPC115, describe "Tapered Classic Fit Styling", while others say "Classic Fit". If someone finds classic cuts loose at the waist, a tapered one may suit them better, so ask us before ordering.
- Hi vis: the Ritemate RM208V2 women's vented shirt comes in sizes 6 to 24, and the Hard Yakka Y08420 women's taped shirt lists a "Shaped hem with longer tail".
Polos and tees
The Be Seen ladies polos list a "Regular Fit" in sizes 8 to 20, and the Black Kanvas BKP401L is also 8 to 20. Our Be Seen team polos guide lines up the men's, ladies and kids versions for matching a crew. For tees, the Aussie Pacific Tasman women's tee runs 4 to 20, while the GOODMATES women's tees use letter sizes, XS to 2XL or 3XL depending on the style.
Sizing a mixed crew
- Check the size run before you pick a range. From the listings above, the Aussie Pacific shirts go to 26, the Pilbara work shirts and RMX018 to 24, and the WP-3W to 18. If anyone is near the top of a run, choose a range that covers them so the whole crew matches.
- Don't convert sizes by guesswork. Women's numbered sizes, letter sizes and men's waist sizes don't line up neatly, and the same number can fit differently from one brand to the next.
- Use a garment that already fits. Ask each person for a work pant or shirt they like, and compare it with the style you're considering. If you're unsure, ask us before ordering.
- Unisex isn't the same as a women's fit. A unisex garment is one pattern for everyone, so check whether a women's version of the style exists before you settle on it.
When you're ready to add a logo, tell us which garments are women's cuts. Darts and a shaped front can change where a chest logo sits best, so before anything is stitched we confirm the logo's size and position with you, sometimes with a digital mock-up.
